You can begin building your project by importing a CSV or Excel file. This lets you create a project from an existing task list and provides an easier way than to start from scratch in Geniebelt.

In order for Geniebelt to import your data, your file needs to be structured correctly, in the format we provide otherwise the import will fail.

Use this template to create you project:

Do not change or write in row 1 and column A (marked in grey below).

Mandatory fields are marked with a * below.

gb_id

Leave blank

name*

Enter the full name of the task

start date*

This sets the start of the task. All dates must be formatted as dd.mm.yyyy e.g. 01.06.2026.

end date (*)

This sets the end of the task. If no end date is provided, the task will be imported as a milestone.

description

Adds a description to the task.

progress

Updates the task’s progress. Enter a number between 0 and 100 to set the progress percentage. Decimals are not supported.

tags

Adds tags to the task. To add multiple tags, separate them with commas, e.g., pre-construction, site manager.

assigned email

Enter an email address to invite a user and assign them to the task. This will send a project invitation to the specified email. Only one email can be added.

working week length

This number field defines the task’s working week. Enter 4, 5, 6, or 7 to select the desired schedule. Leave blank to use the default of 5 days, Monday to Friday. The available options are:

4 = Monday–Thursday

5 = Monday–Friday

6 = Monday–Saturday

7 = Monday–Sunday

working week

Leave blank to have the first working day of the working length (Monday as first, Tuesday as second, etc.). To select specific days, enter 1 for working days and 0 for non-working days after ww-

ww-1010011

ww-0011111

reporting mode

By default, task progress is shown as a percentage. To use Custom units instead, write 'custom_units' in the field. Must be filled out for custom unit to work.

custom unit name

Enter the name of the unit, maximum 10 characters. Must be filled out for custom unit to work.

custom unit max

Enter how many units in total. Must be filled out for custom unit to work.

actual start date

N/A for import

actual end date

N/A for import

Things to keep in mind:

  • The order in which the tasks appear on your file will be the order they appear in Geniebelt.

  • We do not support Groups or Dependencies with this method.
