You can create tags using any criteria, keyword, or data point that is relevant to your project. This makes it easier to organise tasks, find specific work, communicate important information, and analyse work across one or multiple projects.
Tags are particularly useful when you need to group tasks that may not otherwise have a direct connection. For example, you can use tags to identify tasks that relate to the same location, trade, material, issue, or responsibility.
Tags are also very useful when you need to look at specific tasks across projects. (Read more about using tags to filter and manage tasks across projects here)
Examples of Tags
There are many ways to use tags, depending on how your company manages projects. For example:
Trade or type of work: Electrical, Plumbing, Scaffolding, Carpentry
Location: Floor 1, Floor 2, Plot 3, Building A
Problem or cause: Delivery, Weather, Design change, Access
Material: Concrete, Steel, Timber, Glass
Priority: Urgent, Requires review, Follow-up
Project phase: Preparation, Installation, Inspection, Handover
Responsibility: Contractor A, Client, Consultant
The most useful approach is to agree on a consistent tagging structure within your organisation. For example, if you use a Trade tag, use the same naming conventions across projects so that tasks can be easily searched and reported on later.

Create Tags
You can add tags from the task side panel individually in Gantt view and in bulk both in Gantt view and Table editor.
Add Tags to an individual task
Open the task you want to add a tag to.
In the side panel, click the three dots at the top and select Edit.
Add a tag by typing its name or selecting one from the drop-down list.
Press Enter after typing the tag name.
Click the green tick to save your changes.
Add Tags in bulk
Select two or more tasks.
Type the tag name or select a tag from the drop-down menu, as you would when adding a tag to an individual task.
Click Save changes.

Company Tags are tags available across all your projects, helping you maintain consistent terminology across projects. Press Manage tags to edit company tags.
Project Tags are tags that have already been used within the project you are currently editing.
Viewing and filtering by Tags
Tags are visible on tasks on both web and mobile.

You can search for a tag using the search field in the top-right corner on the web and the search bar at the top of the mobile app.

Note: Tasks with the same name may also appear in your search results, even if they do not have the tag applied. In Cross-project, you can choose to search specifically for tags if needed.
Tags can also be used as filters in Task sheet, allowing you to create a focused view of tasks based on the criteria you need. (Read more here)
