Duplicate a task or milestone
The first time you use the duplicate function, mark the task you want to duplicate and click the Duplicate option under the three dots in the task panel to the right or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+D (Windows) or Command+D (Mac).
A modal will open where you can choose which elements to copy to the new task or milestone.
Add number suffix – Adds a number in brackets after the task or milestone name. If you prefer, you can rename the new task instead. If you choose neither, the duplicated task will have the same name as the original.
Assignees – Copies all assignees to the new task.
Start and end dates – Copies the start and end dates to the new task. This is especially useful when creating tasks that need to be repeated in the future. It is faster than creating a new task from the menu bar, which automatically gives the task today's date and requires you to move it to the correct dates afterwards.
Working week – Copies the working week settings. If you do not select this option, the new task will use the default working week. (Read more here)
Description – Copies the description to the new task.
Tags – Copies all tags to the new task. (Read more here)
Custom units – Copies the custom units used for progress reporting. If you do not select this option, progress for the new task will be reported as a percentage. (Read more here)
Once you have made your selections, you can use Ctrl+D / Command+D to quickly create additional duplicates.
Your selections in the duplicate popup window are remembered for short command duplication. You only need to open the popup window via the side panel again if you want to change your selection.
Duplicating multiple tasks
You can also duplicate several tasks at once using the Bulk action panel. (Read more here)
Duplicating a group of tasks
You can also duplicate an entire group of tasks at once. This is useful when you want to create a new set of similar tasks while preserving their structure and dependencies.
To duplicate a group:
Select the group header - you shall not select the individual tasks within the group.
Open the three-dot menu in the group side panel.
Make sure Start and end dates and Working week are selected in the popup window.
Select Duplicate.
When a group is duplicated, the dependencies between its tasks are copied as well, preserving the relationships and structure of the original group.
Note: Only one group can be duplicated at a time.
