You can connect tasks from other projects to a specific task within your project.
This makes it easier to access and monitor related work across projects.
Task connections are for reference only. Defining dependencies between connected tasks is currently not supported.
How to use connect tasks
Open the task in your project where you want to view related tasks from other projects.
In the right-hand panel, click the Connections tab.
Click the drop-down menu to view all Geniebelt projects you are a part of. Select the project that contains the task you want to connect.
After selecting the relevant project from the list, click Select task(s) in project.
You will be redirected to the selected project, where you can choose to connect a single task, multiple tasks (using Ctrl or Shift), or entire groups.
Note: Group connections do not display status information. Connecting a group is intended to provide quick access to a specific group in another project rather than to monitor its progress.
After confirming your selection, you will automatically be returned to the original project. The connected tasks will now be displayed in the Connections tab.
Viewing Connected Tasks
The Connections tab provides an overview of all connected tasks and displays key information, including:
Planned start date
Planned finish date
Current Geniebelt status (Red, orange, green, blue and grey)
You can also click any connected task or group name to navigate directly to the corresponding item in the other project.
Connections are visible from both projects. When viewing a connected task in the other project, you will also be able to see the link back to the original task.
To remove a connection, press the unlink symbol.
Permissions and Access
Only Project Leaders and Administrators can create, edit, or remove task connections. Members and Observers can view connected tasks but cannot modify them.
To open a connected task or group directly from the Connections tab, you must have access to the connected project. If you are not a member of that project, a message will appear informing you that you do not have permission to access it.
